quilty musings …

Just 24 sleeps till we move into our home … and that will be the end of  our tripping around for now. It will be lovely to sleep again in my own bed, and have room to breathe, perhaps even escape into another room, all . by . myself!!!

Something I am really looking forward to doing is setting up my quilting/crafting room again, perhaps even making a quilt! My sewing machine was serviced just before we left ‘down south’ and I’m hoping I still remember how to use it.

I thought I would share some quilts that I have on my ‘to do’ or should that be ‘to make’ list. Here are some beautiful quilts I want to make …

I want to start off with this stunning quilt which I discovered today on Craftsy …

Something in this quilt calls to me … and who knew that you could buy boxes of these pretty fabrics called Fossil Ferns?

Fossil Ferns

Oh yes, they are indeed calling to me! Something else I want to make is this free pattern I came across recently on the Moda Bakeshop website. It is made using two layer cakes, and will make a good-sized lap. I think it would be a fabulous way of using a collection that catches my eye. The blocks are large, and the quilt will go together very quickly. So long as there are ‘lights’ and ‘darks’ in the layer cake, the quilt will look great.

This quilt is constructed using Little Black Dress 2 …

Not my colours, but I love this pattern … very elegant and classy!

And now for a free pattern from Red Pepper Quilts which uses a block called Economy (or Square in a Square) block. This uses a technique called foundation piecing, which I have used before and enjoy.

You can find a tutorial on Rita’s website here

I haven’t unpacked my quilting supplies since April 2013, and I know there are some quilt tops waiting to be quilted, so that is on my quilting ‘to do’ list too … can’t wait! My quilty fingers are twitching … 24 more sleeps!!!
