I’m a ‘rules following’ girl, to be sure … if the rules say, update your phone, then I update your phone! Yesterday, I hooked my iPhone into iTunes and was politely told I needed to update the iOS of the phone, so I did. Things were fine until I noticed that some of my apps were struggling, and my WiFi wasn’t working. I checked, and found it was turned off, and the button was greyed out. Not good, if you can’t even turn the WiFi back on.
I did what all good savy consumers do … I Googled! And guess what? Lots of folks have lost their WiFi when they updated their iPhones to 6 or 6.1 … I already was using 6, and it had been fine. It was the jump to 6.1 that killed the phone. I visited the Apple website and followed the instructions there on how to fix the problem, but had no success.
This morning, we drove to our nearest Apple centre (45 mins away) and I must say I was very impressed with the service I received. I was given a time to come back (1/2 an hour, which was long enough for coffee with the girl and the man), then a guy quickly ran through all the known solutions, the last of which involved clearing my phone of all data (I backed everything up this morning to my computer and the Cloud), but the WiFi still didn’t work.
Half an hour later, I walked out with a brand new iPhone, which has a year left to run in my contract before I can upgrade to the next iPhone. My old phone had been dropped several times, and the green and black Kate Spade case had done a good job of protecting it, but the case was cracked in several places. I treated myself to a new case and screen cover …
This is a hardshell polycarbonate protection, with a silicone band cushions between iPhone and case … I hadn’t seen the silicone cushion before, and I’m rather impressed. It is supposed to be like a ‘shock absorber’ if you drop the case.
Happy colours, aren’t they? I was a little nervous at first changing the case, as I really loved the green and black case, but now, I’m super happy. It makes me smile every time I see it.
Once I had the phone home, I just had to update it with my old phone’s data, and everything is back to normal now.
And the best thing? The warranty was due to run out in two days, so I’m really glad that I didn’t leave updating the phone for a few days …

And I loved the new case!
