snapwidget … installing an instagram feed into your blog sidebar

Regular readers may have noticed a new addition to my blog sidebar … I now have an Instagram feed just under the Search field. I’ve been wanting to do this for some time now, as I’m a big Instagram fan, and I’ve tentatively checked out some widgets to do this.

As I was wandering through my blog reader today, I found an example of an Instagram feed that I really liked, so I checked out the source code, identified what widget it was and got to work installing it on my blog.

[SnapWidget]

The widget is called SnapWidget … check out the website first here.

I have a WordPress blog, so you can see how to install SnapWidget on your WordPress blog by watching this tutorial here. If you use Blogger, here are some instructions for adding SnapWidget to Blogger …and here are some instructions for adding SnapWidget to Typepad.

Basically, you scroll down the page to Want to get started? Then fill in the details of your Instagram feed … this is what I filled in for my blog.

You can preview your selections. One thing I found was that I couldn’t have a slideshow running if I wanted more than one image to display in the sidebar. Then copy the code.

I went to my Dashboard, and clicked on Appearance, Widgets, and dragged Text to just under my Search box. I clicked on the Down arrow on Text, and pasted the code into the box, and clicked Save.

I also added a little bit of script to ensure that my Instagram feed was centred, because that’s the sort of girl I am!!! I added <center> to the beginning of the code, and </center> to the end of the code, and life was centred again, just the way it should!

And that’s all there was to it … super easy! I hope this can be of use to anyone who wants to add an Instagram feed to their blog sidebar … enjoy!

Just so we are all on the same page … all opinions expressed here on my blog are my personal thoughts and judgements about the products I have written about. I am not affiliated with any of the companies and products mentioned, and I post about my experiences because I am happy with the products and enjoy sharing my experiences with other readers.
